Some stress is healthy it works to protect you in times of need and gives you a sense of focus when you’re about to take a test or give a presentation.
On the other hand there is the type of stress that is harmful. It can cause physical, mental, and emotional pain. It can cause your body and mind to overreact which can lead to stress related health problems.
Below are some of the top 5 ways to managing this stress:
1. Idnetify your Triggers.
Ask yourself, what stresses me out? How do I react to stress? Look for physical and emotional cues. the key to establishing balance is to know what causes you stress in the first place.
2. Move More.
This one is simple. NO matter how fit you are moving around more and reducing you sedentary behavior will help. If you can get outside even better!
Now I am not suggesting no Chocolate because in my view this would be a crime, However what we choose to fuel our body with has a direct impact on how we feel and turn this effects or resilience to stress. Also limiting our Alcohol consumption will help with sleep which is number 4 on the list.
4. Get Good Sleep.
Sleep! well we all know we feel better after a good night sleep. This seemingly easy task can often be tricky especially at times when we are feeling stressed. Try going to bed earlier and avoiding screen time for at least 1 hour before you want to go to sleep. you may even want to try listing to a meditation or Mindfulness walk through to help switch your mind off (there are some great free ones on youtube.
5. Take time off.
It appears that taking time off and going on holiday isn't just a luxury, it really is good for your health.... no matter what your budget whether it be a week in the sun or a camping weekend trip getting away from it all will defiantly help you de-stress.
